Job Title: Program Assistant
Organization: Hamilton Burlington Trails Council
Contract Duration: 7 weeks
Position Start Date: Monday June 12th, 2017 (flexible).
Position End Date: Friday July 28th, 2017 (flexible).
Wage: $11.40/ hour at 30 hours per week (some evenings and weekends)
Locations (s): Hamilton and Burlington
Description:
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Assistant will be working with the
Hamilton Burlington Trails Council to promote the benefits of trail use to youth. The incumbent
will provide community members and community organizations with the tools to help increase
the number of youth participating in trail use for recreation or mobility.
Duties:
Preparation of tool kits.
Collecting an inventory of outdoor recreation opportunities from partners (such as
conservation authorities, municipalities).
Planning and leading low/ no cost outdoor recreation opportunities for youth (such as
hikes).
Attending community outreach events.
Generating and distributing promotional materials.
Participate in conference planning.
Tracking outreach and participation.
Qualifications:
Full time undergraduate student who is returning to school in September (any discipline)
Knowledge of health promotion an asset
Community engagement experience an asset
Strong facilitator and confident speaker
Organized and detail oriented
Creative and enthusiastic
Outdoor recreation background an asset but not required
